Marcel Dettmann - The Radio Sessions - Electronic Beats on Air - April 2010

Marcel Dettmann grew up in a small village in Brandenburg close to Berlin. He got in touch with Techno in the early 90s and soon realised he didn’t just want to be a listener who danced in the clubs. He wanted to be the in control of the crowd by serving the right tunes for the right mood in the exactly right situation. So, he bought his first DJ-set, trained his skills and after a while he became involved in some highly acclaimed techno events in Frankfurt/Oder and Dresden.
In 1999 he began his residency at the Ostgut Ton club in Berlin, better known today as Berghain and appreciated as one of the best spots for electronic music in the world. Since then, he has been an inherent part of the Berghain scene with his preferred late shift from 7 am. In 2004 Marcel was also part of another institution in the capital city, working in the legendary Hardwax record store in Kreuzberg - the place where a lot of big names collected some valuable music experiences. In the meantime, he founded his own label named MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records).
And now, he is about to release his debut LP Dettmann on Ostgut Ton. But what does Marcel Dettmann care for with an album? “I like music with a depth that I can feel. There is no formula for that. It could be a concept album or one that makes use of various styles.”
So, enjoy the mental experience of Marcel Dettmann's Radio Session for Electronic Beats Radio
